The short version

SIPfy is a static website — pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript hosted on Cloudflare Pages. We do not have a user database. We do not ask you to create an account. The SIP calculators run entirely in your browser; the numbers you enter never leave your device. When you click "Save calculation" on a calculator, the data is stored in your browser's local storage, not on our servers. We don't have servers. The only data we collect is anonymous aggregate traffic data via Cloudflare Analytics and Google Analytics (which is configured to anonymise IP addresses), and the only third-party service that may set cookies on your device is Google AdSense (for ad personalisation, which you can opt out of via Google's Ads Settings page).

What data SIPfy collects

SIPfy collects a minimal set of aggregate, non-personal data needed to keep the site running and improve it over time. Specifically:

  • Traffic data via Cloudflare Analytics — anonymous, aggregate statistics like total page views, top pages, top referrers, and country-level geographic distribution. Cloudflare does not set cross-site tracking cookies for this analytics and the data cannot be tied back to an individual user.
  • Traffic data via Google Analytics 4 — page views, session duration, bounce rate, and similar aggregate metrics. We have configured GA4 to anonymise IP addresses (by truncating the last octet) and to not collect user IDs. The GA4 cookie, _ga, persists for 2 years; you can block it via your browser's cookie settings or via Google's opt-out browser add-on.
  • Ad-related data via Google AdSense — if real ads are served (which requires us to configure a real AdSense publisher ID, currently a placeholder), Google may set cookies (such as __gads, IDE) for ad personalisation and frequency capping. These cookies are governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings at any time.
  • Newsletter email address (optional) — if you subscribe to the SIP Insights newsletter via the form in the footer, we store your email address in our newsletter provider's database. We use a privacy-respecting provider (currently being evaluated; Buttondown or ConvertKit Free tier) and we never share, sell, or rent your email to anyone. You can unsubscribe with one click from any newsletter email.
  • Contact form submissions (optional) — if you fill out the contact form on the Contact page, your name, email, phone (if provided), topic, and message are forwarded to Bhanuprakash's personal email at brssardesai@gmail.com via a third-party form processor (Formspree, Buttondown, or similar). We retain these messages for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, typically 90 days, then delete them.

What data SIPfy does NOT collect

Equally important is what SIPfy deliberately does not collect. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information unless you explicitly provide it via the newsletter form or contact form. We do not collect your SIP calculator inputs — every calculation runs entirely in your browser's JavaScript, and the "Save calculation" button writes only to your browser's local storage (which you can clear at any time via your browser settings). We do not track your reading behaviour across pages. We do not profile you for targeted advertising beyond what Google AdSense does (which you can control). We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties for marketing purposes.

How SIPfy uses the data it collects

The aggregate traffic data from Cloudflare Analytics and Google Analytics is used to understand which calculators and articles are most popular, which pages need improvement, what devices and browsers our visitors use, and which countries our audience comes from. This helps us prioritise which new calculators to build, which articles to update, and which device types to test against. The data is reviewed in aggregate only; we do not look at individual user sessions.

Your newsletter email address (if you subscribe) is used solely to send you the weekly SIP Insights newsletter. We do not send promotional emails, we do not share your email with sponsors or partners, and we do not use your email to retarget you with ads. The contact form submissions are used solely to reply to your enquiry. We do not add contact form submitters to the newsletter list unless they explicitly subscribe via the newsletter form.

Cookies and local storage

SIPfy uses the following storage mechanisms on your device:

  • Local storage: SIPfy uses local storage (under the namespace sipfy:) to remember your theme preference (light or dark mode), your saved SIP calculations (when you click "Save calculation"), and any UI preferences you've set. This data never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time via your browser's "Clear browsing data" feature.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics 4 sets the _ga cookie (2-year duration) to distinguish unique users. IP addresses are anonymised. You can block these cookies via your browser settings or via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Advertising cookies: If real AdSense ads are served, Google may set the __gads cookie (2-year duration) and the IDE cookie (2-year duration, in certain regions) for ad personalisation and frequency capping. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings.
  • Cloudflare cookies: Cloudflare may set the __cf_bm cookie (30-minute duration) for bot management and DDoS protection. This cookie is strictly necessary for security and cannot be disabled if you want to use the site.

Third-party services

SIPfy uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Cloudflare Pages — hosting and CDN. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request headers to serve the site and protect against abuse. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdSense — display advertising. Google may set cookies for ad personalisation; you can opt out via Google Ads Settings. Google Ad Cookies Policy.
  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic analytics with IP anonymisation enabled. Google Analytics Privacy.
  • Google Fonts — font delivery. Google may receive your IP address when your browser fetches fonts. Google Fonts Privacy.
  • Formspree (or similar) — contact form forwarding. Formspree processes your name, email, and message to forward them to Bhanuprakash's inbox. Formspree Privacy Policy.
  • Newsletter provider — email newsletter delivery. The specific provider is being evaluated; we will update this policy when the provider is finalised. We will only use a provider that does not share or sell subscriber emails.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. SIPfy is committed to honouring these rights regardless of where you live:

  • Right to access — you can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you. Given that we don't have a user database, this will usually be limited to your newsletter subscription record (if you subscribed) and any contact form messages you've sent in the last 90 days.
  • Right to deletion — you can request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. Email brssardesai@gmail.com and we'll delete your data within 30 days.
  • Right to opt out — you can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings, opt out of Google Analytics via the opt-out browser add-on, unsubscribe from the newsletter via the one-click unsubscribe link in every email, and clear your local storage via your browser settings.
  • Right to complain — if you believe we've mishandled your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority. In India, that's the Data Protection Board of India constituted under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Data retention

SIPfy retains personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form messages are retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted. Aggregate analytics data is retained indefinitely in anonymised form (since it cannot be tied back to individuals). Cloudflare and Google may retain their own logs according to their respective retention policies, which are documented in their privacy policies.

Children's privacy

SIPfy is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at brssardesai@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it. The calculators and articles on SIPfy are designed for adults making their own financial decisions; minors should consult a parent or guardian before making any investment.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if appropriate, post a notice on the home page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of SIPfy after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
